Letter from Senator Fred R. Harris to Mrs. Martha R. Siegel, 1966-09-15
Scope and Contents
The University of Oklahoma is seeking to establish an Institute of Indian Education to serve the Indian population in the United States. The population of Indians in Oklahoma is significant, making it an ideal location for the institute. Education for Indian youth is a priority, as there is a demand for more comprehensive courses of study. The institute would also address social and health issues faced by the Indian population. Oklahoma has a cooperative educational environment and a large Indian population that would benefit from the proposed institute.
