Fred R. Harris, a member of the United States Senate, wrote to Wendell Chino, President of the National Congress of American Indians, regarding a proposal for a national Indian advisory committee. Harris informed Chino that the proposal will be further discussed and that he will be notified of any decisions made. Harris also offered his assistance in the future.
