Correspondence Regarding Veteran Homestead Bill HR 4589, 1945-11-21

Scope and Contents

James C. Bowker wrote a letter to Representative George B. Schwabe inquiring about the veterans' homestead bill, HR 4589, which Schwabe introduced. Bowker expressed interest in obtaining one of the farms that would be available to service men if the bill passed. He explained that he was a veteran who had been forced to sell his farm after being drafted, and now he was looking for a chance to buy a farm at a reasonable price. Schwabe responded by sending Bowker a copy of the bill and expressing his belief that it was a constructive idea for veterans. He also promised to keep working towards the bill's passage and encouraged Bowker to reach out to him with any further questions.
