Correspondence on Assistance to John Johnson and the Distribution of Judgment Funds to Creek Indians, 1966-12-02
Scope and Contents
The letter is from Gary Dage, a Legislative Assistant to Senator Fred R. Harris, to Mr. Sim L. Liles enclosing a report from the Bureau of Indian Affairs regarding his efforts to assist Mr. John Johnson. The report is related to the distribution of judgment funds to Creek Indians based on an 1814 treaty. The letter also warns against unauthorized individuals or groups soliciting fees for application forms related to the distribution of funds and states that Congress has not yet authorized the preparation of an official roll for distribution. Interested parties are advised to wait for the Bureau of Indian Affairs to announce the beginning of the roll-making process.
