Addressing Housing Discrimination Concerns at Chilocco Indian School: A Correspondence, 1966-01-01 - 1966-12-31

Scope and Contents

Mrs. N. L. Thornton inquired about housing discrimination on the Chilocco campus and received a report from Dr. Leon Wall, Superintendent of Chilocco Indian School, explaining the housing policies. The report stated that there are limited quarters available on campus, with priority given to certain employees based on their roles and contributions to the school. The Thorntons had experienced difficulties with neighbors in the past, leading to their relocation to Newkirk, Oklahoma. Despite their unhappiness, the school had no alternative solution.
