Affidavit of John Johnson: Ownership Claim and Forgery Accusation over Homestead Allotment in Stephens County, Oklahoma, 1968-01-01 - 1968-12-31
Scope and Contents
John Johnson, a white man not of Indian descent, claims in an affidavit that he is the lawful owner of a one-half interest in his deceased wife's Choctaw Indian homestead allotment. He denies signing a forged instrument related to the land and states that he transferred half of his interest to two individuals. He also filed a Proof-of-heirship with the Indian Bureau to claim his deceased wife's funds but has not received any results. John's brother, Bud Johnson, also provides an affidavit confirming John's identity and relationship to his deceased wife.
