Scope and Contents

The Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service has been working with Indian families for the past ten years, providing educational assistance to help improve their social, cultural, and economic conditions. The program aims to establish communication, promote the use of educational services, develop resources, involve leadership, and encourage participation in programs such as 4-H Clubs and agricultural associations. Major program areas include improving family food supply, providing adequate clothing, promoting health and safety, managing family business, agricultural production and marketing, resource development, and 4-H Club work. Personal contact is emphasized as an effective teaching method, but the program faces challenges due to the large area served and the low income of Indian families.
