Scope and Contents

Congressman Carl Albert of the Third District in Ada, Oklahoma, has been informed by Assistant Commissioner Rex Lee that James H. Delvin has been appointed as the Principal Chief of the Choctaw Indians. Delvin's commission was sent for delivery on October 28 to the Director in Oklahoma. Delvin, whose term had expired on August 18, was endorsed for re-appointment in a referendum by the tribe's enrolled members.
