Major Progress Made in Securing Choctaw Per Capita Payment, 1951-10-08
Scope and Contents
Congressman Carl Albert announced that the prospects of receiving a Choctaw per capita payment this fall have greatly improved with the inclusion of $385,000 in the Second Supplemental Appropriation Bill. The funds are intended for the commutation of treaty obligations with the Choctaws as provided for in the Albert Act. The bill is expected to pass in the House, and once finalized, payments will be made to enrolled members of the Tribe.
