Scope and Contents
Congressman Carl Albert announced that a $385,000 item has been included in the Second Supplemental Appropriation Bill for a Choctaw per capita payment. The funds are intended to fulfill treaty obligations with the Choctaws as outlined in the Albert Act. The bill is expected to pass easily in the House and the funds will be distributed alongside other appropriations for the Choctaws and Chickasaws. The Oklahoma Congressional Delegation will request the Bureau of Indian Affairs to begin making payments as soon as the appropriations are finalized.
