Scope and Contents

Robert Coppa, a Captain in the Signal Corps of the Army of the United States, wrote to Representative Helen Gahagan Douglas to thank her for sending him copies of The "Negro" Soldier pamphlet. He commended her for compiling and publicizing the document, and expressed his belief that it was a significant and reliable social document. Coppa emphasized that his views were his own and not representative of the commanding general of the Eastern Signal Corps Training Center. He requested that his note not be published.
