Scope and Contents

The Philadelphia Tribune sent a detailed and documented story of Negro heroism in World War II to newspapers, praising the courage and devotion of African-American soldiers and sailors. Congresswoman Helen Gahagan Douglass highlighted the achievements of individual units and individuals in various theaters of the war, dispelling false statements made about the war record of American Negroes.
