Resolution Against Senate Bill 2543: Protecting the Rights of the Hualapai Tribe, 1952-03-01
Scope and Contents
Felix S. Cohen, attorney for the Hualapai Tribe of Arizona, has written to Congressman George B. Schwabe to bring attention to a bill that would give the Indian Bureau expanded powers to make arrests, searches, and seizures without a warrant. The tribe is concerned that this bill could result in the violation of rights and freedoms of Indian people and is urging Congress to reject the bill. The resolution passed by the Hualapai Tribal Council outlines their objections to the bill and calls for it to be rejected.
