Scope and Contents
The document consists of two letters. The first letter is from Miss Camille M. Gameau, the secretary of Representative George B. Schwabe, acknowledging receipt of a letter from Calvert C. Shouse regarding a motion to grant permanent appointments and advancements in rank for military personnel after the war. The second letter is from Calvert C. Shouse himself, endorsing the motion and requesting Representative Schwabe's support for the welfare of regular Army and Navy personnel who have served during the war.
