Support for Release of Fathers from the Armed Forces, 1945-09-14
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Schooling wrote to George B. Schwabe, M.C. asking for help in releasing fathers from the Armed Forces. Schwabe had personally discussed the issue with the President, introduced a bill in Congress, and made speeches in favor of such legislation. However, he was unable to get the bill passed due to opposition from the military authorities and the New Deal crowd. Schwabe thanked Mrs. Schooling for her letter and assured her that he had consistently tried to obtain releases for fathers from the service.
