Efforts to Release Fathers from Service, 1945-09-14
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Thomas wrote to George B. Schwabe asking for help in passing a bill that would automatically release fathers from the military service. Schwabe had introduced a bill on this subject in Congress, but it was not passed due to opposition from the military authorities. Mrs. Thomas expressed her frustration with the military keeping men in service for longer than necessary, especially fathers who want to return home. She asked Schwabe to do anything he could to help in this matter.
