Title: Appeal for Family Reunification Legislation, 1945-09-14
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Bovard wrote to Congressman Schwabe requesting her husband be discharged from the service so he could be home with their two children. Schwabe had introduced a bill in Congress to automatically discharge servicemen in similar situations, but it was being blocked by the majority. He encouraged Mrs. Bovard to show extreme hardship and dependency to possibly get her husband discharged, and offered his assistance. Mrs. Bovard reiterated her desire for her husband to come home in her response to Schwabe.
