Appeal for Release of Fathers from Service, 1945-09-14
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Hattie Freebie wrote to Representative George Schwabe about a bill to release fathers from the military service. Schwabe had personally discussed the issue with the President, wrote to him about it, and introduced a bill in Congress. Despite his efforts, the bill did not pass due to opposition from the military authorities. Mrs. Freebie appealed to Schwabe to vote for the bill to reunite families and keep homes sacred. Schwabe expressed his consistent support for releasing fathers from the service.
