Supporting Fathers: A Call for Legislation to Release Servicemen, 1945-09-14
Scope and Contents
Mrs. James wrote to Representative George B. Schwabe asking for his support in a bill to release fathers from the service. Representative Schwabe had already introduced a bill on this subject, but it was not passed due to opposition from the military authorities. Representative Schwabe expressed his disappointment in not being able to pass the bill, but assured Mrs. James that he has consistently tried to obtain releases for these fathers.
