Efforts to Release Fathers from Service, 1945-09-14
Scope and Contents
Mr. Griffith wrote a letter to Mr. Schwabe asking for help in releasing fathers from the service. Mr. Schwabe responded by informing Mr. Griffith that he had introduced a bill in Congress to automatically release fathers from the service, but it was not successful due to opposition from the military authorities. Mr. Schwabe expressed his disappointment but assured Mr. Griffith that he had been consistent in his efforts to help fathers return home. Mr. Griffith agreed with the importance of getting the fathers home and expressed his support for their release.
