Scope and Contents

Frances Good writes to George B. Schwabe, expressing her concern about her brother who is in the service and scheduled for overseas shipment, leaving behind two young children. She emphasizes the importance of fathers being present in their children's lives and urges Schwabe to do everything in his power to bring back fathers like her brother to give their children the care and guidance they deserve. Schwabe responds, explaining his efforts to pass bills for the discharge of servicemen with young children, despite opposition from the New Deal crowd in Congress. He offers assistance in obtaining a discharge for her brother if certain conditions exist.
