Opposition to Drafting Teen-Age Boys, 1946-06-14
Scope and Contents
Mrs. F.A. Haver wrote a letter to George B. Schwabe expressing her concerns about the drafting of teen-age boys into the military. Schwabe responded, stating that he voted against the bill and is inclined to do so again unless amendments and safeguards are included. He believes that drafting teen-age boys is wrong and that the Army should focus on encouraging voluntary enlistment instead of extending the Draft Act. Schwabe appreciates Haver's views and agrees with her opposition to the draft.
