Opposition to Sending Young Boys into Combat: Correspondence between W. E. Rowsey and George B. Schwabe, 1945-03-22

Scope and Contents

The document is a letter from Mr. W. E. Rowsey to Congressman George B. Schwabe expressing opposition to young boys being placed in combat service with only short periods of training. Rowsey argues that it is not justified to send immature boys into combat duty and suggests that more mature and trained men should be sent as replacement troops instead. He shares personal experiences of his son being sent into combat at a young age with little training and expresses concern for the safety of young soldiers. Rowsey urges for legislation to prevent young boys from being thrown into combat lines and asks for the congressman's assistance in addressing this issue.
