Thoughts on Peacetime Military Conscription: A Letter to Mrs. Mildred Simpson, 1945-03-30

Scope and Contents

Mrs. Mildred Simpson wrote to Representative George B. Schwabe asking for his thoughts on enacting peacetime military conscription. Schwabe responded saying he is not in favor of the program as outlined by the Administration and prefers military training for young men while they are in school rather than intensive and exclusive military training. Schwabe's secretary acknowledged receipt of Simpson's letter and stated that Schwabe would address it upon his return to Washington.
