Scope and Contents

The Joplin Chamber of Commerce opposes the Doughton Bill, which would negatively impact the mining industry in the Tri-State region. Congressman Schwabe also opposes the bill and believes that Congress, not the President, should have the power to set tariff rates. The Chamber of Commerce appreciates Schwabe's support and has taken action to oppose the bill by contacting Senators and Congressmen from the affected states. They express willingness to support Schwabe in the future.
