Concerns with Rent Control: A Letter from Mrs. Martha Miller to George B. Schwabe, 1946-07-16
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Martha Miller wrote a letter to Representative George B. Schwabe on July 12, 1946, expressing her concerns about the increase in her house rent from $35.00 to $50.00 per month. She requested his help in holding rent control in place as many families, including hers, were struggling to afford the increased rent. In response, Representative Schwabe acknowledged her letter and mentioned that he had not received complaints from areas where rent control was not in effect. He wished Mrs. Miller luck in resolving the situation with her landlord.
