Concerns Over Rent Controls, 1946-07-01
Scope and Contents
Miss Jessie Bristol Shearer wrote a letter to Congressman George B. Schwabe requesting renewal of rent controls. Schwabe responded by informing her that Congress passed a bill to continue rent controls, but President Truman vetoed it. Schwabe also mentioned that complaints of excessive rents were more common in areas without rent control. Shearer then sent a telegram to Schwabe urging him to protect against losing homes due to the abandonment of rent control.
