Supporting Government Control: A Letter to Representative Schwabe, 1946-06-30
Scope and Contents
Mr. Winston Weathers urges Representative George Schwabe to support the President's stand against inflation and vote for a temporary extension of the Office of Price Administration (O.P.A). Schwabe disagrees, stating that inflation is already present and is largely caused by deficit spending and borrowing by the current administration. He also believes that rent controls are unnecessary and that O.P.A actually contributes to inflation. He warns that further government control will only lead to more regulations and regimentations. Ultimately, Schwabe values frankness and honesty in expressing his views on the matter.
