Scope and Contents

The letter is a response to a request from Mrs. Watt Sells, Jr. to not oppose the O.P.A. (Office of Price Administration) or vote to do away with it. The writer, George B. Schwabe, M. C., explains that while he is happy to agree with constituents when possible, the majority of people in his district are against the O.P.A. He believes that the system is wrong in principle and was only justified during a war emergency. Schwabe expresses his belief that those against the O.P.A. are right and explains his decision to vote against its extension. He ends the letter by stating that they can agree to disagree and still be friends.
