Update on Premium Payments for Mining Operations in Tri-State District, 1946-06-30
Scope and Contents
The letter from George B. Schwabe, M.C., discusses the payment of premiums on copper, lead, and zinc as subsidies for mining operations in the Tri-State District. Schwabe had contacted the Reconstruction Finance Corporation to make these payments after the expiration of the OPA law but was informed that the administration would not permit them until the OPA bill was revived. However, Schwabe has now received a letter stating that the payments will be retroactive to June 30, 1946, and continue until June 30, 1947.
