Urgent Appeal for Support of Bunker Bill: Impact on Tri-State District Mining Operations, 1946-06-30

Scope and Contents

The letter is from George B. Schwabe, a congressman, regarding the payment of premiums on copper, lead, and zinc after the expiration of the OPA law. He had contacted the Reconstruction Finance Corporation to make these payments, but was informed by the administration that the payments would not be made until the revival of the OPA law. Schwabe received a letter stating that the payments would be retroactive to June 30, 1946, and continue until June 30, 1947. Additionally, there is a telegram from Ingram Machinery Company urgently requesting support for the Bunker Bill to address the closing of lead and zinc mines in the Tri-State District.
