Advocating for Old-Age Pensions: A Letter from George B. Schwabe, 1945-01-29
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Gertrude Forrest wrote a letter to Congressman George B. Schwabe expressing support for House Resolution 605, a old-age pension measure. She hopes that the bill will provide enough money for elderly people to live on, as the current system is unfair and some old people go hungry. Congressman Schwabe responds, stating that he has always favored old-age pensions and agrees with doing away with investigators and giving the money directly to the elderly. He thanks Mrs. Forrest for her letter and support.
