Concerns of Chief Tinker Regarding S. 2166 and Pueblos, 1980-03-14
Scope and Contents
Chief Sylvester Tinker expressed concern about how S. 2166 would affect the Pueblo Tribe in a letter to Congressman James R. Jones. Jones was unaware of the issue but promised to keep an eye on the legislation to ensure the Pueblo issue is addressed. Jones also arranged a meeting for Tinker with Under Secretary Joseph at the Interior Department. Jones expressed support for the cultural center concept and thanked Tinker for bringing the problem to his attention.
