Scope and Contents
The letter is in response to a petition opposing proposed legislation to extend the time for leasing Choctaw and Chickasaw coal and asphalt lands. The Assistant Secretary of the Interior plans to have negotiations with representatives of the tribes to reach an agreement on the purchase price of the lands. The writer, Carl Albert, assures that he will resist any effort to delay the matter.
