Scope and Contents

A press release from Congressman Carl Albert's office stating that the representatives from "Indian states" were outvoted by Eastern Republicans in their efforts to increase funding for Indian education in the Interior Department appropriation bill, and the proposed cuts would result in the closure of half of Oklahoma's Indian boarding schools and reduce federal aid to school districts serving Native American pupils.
