Scope and Contents

The Interior Department is requesting funds for a $10 million building project at the Chilocco Indian boarding school in Oklahoma. The project, recommended by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, would include new dormitories, dining facilities, student union building, and vocational education buildings. The school serves about 350 high school students and the construction could be completed in about three years. The BIA plans to add post-graduate vocational and technical programs, as well as junior college-type programs to meet the needs of the Indian children in the area.
