Scope and Contents
Lyle H. Boren, a member of the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce in Congress, wrote to Willard W. Beatty, Director of Education at the Department of the Interior, regarding the attendance of Indian children in public schools in Oklahoma. Boren asked for clarification on whether money spent on educating Indian children could be considered tuition and whether it could be carried from one school district to another. Beatty responded by outlining the regulations that pertain to this matter.
