Correspondence Regarding the Situation at Chilocco Indian School and Potential Bureau of Indian Affairs Contract with a Private Organization, 1969, 1969-05-06

Congressman Page Belcher is concerned about the situation at Chilocco Indian School and has written to Commissioner Robert L. Bennett of the Bureau of Indian Affairs requesting a report on the conditions at the school and the Bureau's position on allegations made against it. Belcher also mentions the possibility of the school being taken out of the Bureau's control. The Council of American Indians in Tulsa, Oklahoma has expressed support for the Commissioner's actions regarding the school.
