Scope and Contents

Ms. Julia E. Kent wrote to Senator Page Belcher requesting help in preventing the Chilocco Indian School from being put out on contract. Senator Belcher assured her that he would do everything he could to keep the school and promised to provide updates on the matter. He later contacted the Bureau of Indian Affairs regarding the situation and received a letter instructing to hold in abeyance any further consideration of contracting with a private organization for the operation of the Chilocco School. Senator Belcher shared this information with Ms. Kent and assured her that he would continue to monitor the situation closely.
