Correspondence Regarding Inquiry into the Welfare of Needy Indian Children in Perry, Oklahoma, 1955-01-01 - 1960-12-31
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Clarence E. Gosney of Perry, Oklahoma wrote to Hon. Page Belcher regarding needy Indian children who may be quitting school due to the inability to afford school lunches and supplies. The Bureau of Indian Affairs investigated the matter and found that the school in Perry adequately met the needs of Indian children, with only a few Indian students enrolled and receiving free lunches. There was no evidence of Indian children being asked to quit school due to financial reasons. The Bureau of Indian Affairs thanked Hon. Page Belcher for his interest in the matter.
