Scope and Contents
A series of correspondence and proclamations regarding Native American Awareness Week in 1976. The United National Indian Tribal Youth organization is seeking support for Senate Joint Resolution #209 to proclaim the week of October 10-16 as Native American Awareness Week. President Gerald Ford ultimately proclaims this week as Native American Awareness Week, recognizing the contributions of Native Americans to American society. Senator Bartlett expresses regret for not being able to attend the UNITY convention but sends a representative in his place.
