Request to Amend Regulations for Investment of Indian Judgment Funds, 1976-01-14
Scope and Contents
The letter written on January 14, 1976, by George A. Shannon to Mr. Raymond Butler of the Bureau of Indian Affairs addresses concerns about proposed regulations that would exclude the investment of Indian judgment funds in corporate bonds. Shannon argues that this exclusion would limit investment opportunities for Indian tribes and deny private industry a source of funds. He urges for the regulations to be amended to allow tribes to invest in corporate bonds through private trusts.
