Scope and Contents

Joe Upicksoun, Chairman of the Education Committee of the National Tribal Chairmen's Association, expresses support for S. 1017 and its provisions aimed at improving educational services for Federally connected Indian children. He specifically supports Title I, the Indian Self-Determination Act, and Title II, which aims to correct abuses of the Johnson-O'Malley Act and involve Indian parents in education programs.
