Scope and Contents

Joseph R. Hanson, Deputy Administrator of Operations for the Farmers Home Administration, discussed the agency's efforts to improve services for Native Americans, including loan and grant programs specifically for Indians. The agency took actions to strengthen outreach programs, improve communication, and provide training for staff to better serve Indian populations. Examples were given of loans made to tribes and individual Indians for housing and water system projects. Overall, there has been significant growth in benefits received by Indians from FmHA programs in recent years.
