Preserving Title IV, Part A of the Indian Education Act: A Call for Support, 1977-10-12
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Willie Phillips wrote a letter to Senator Dewey F. Bartlett expressing her concerns about the reauthorization of funds for Title IV, Part A of the Indian Education Act. Senator Bartlett responded, stating that the House Committee on Education and Labor is holding hearings on the matter, but legislation is not expected to be reported out of Committee before the session ends. He assured Mrs. Phillips that he will keep her views in mind when the legislation reaches the Senate for consideration. Mrs. Phillips had requested help in preserving Title IV-A, which has provided support for Indian students in the education system.
