Correspondence between Mr. and Mrs. LeGate and Congressman James R. Jones, 1974-01-21
Scope and Contents
The text consists of two letters, one from Member of Congress James R. Jones and one from Senator Bartlett, both responding to a questionnaire from Mr. and Mrs. Pitt LeGate. Jones expresses concern about benefits going to those who do not need them and the disincentive for work, as well as the tax policy concerning overseas operations of American corporations. Bartlett expresses the need for charity to begin at home, high taxation on corporation's overseas operations, and unity between Republicans and Democrats for the country's benefit. Both letters acknowledge the importance of voicing opinions and voting.
