Scope and Contents
The District/State Staff Institute took place from December 4-6, 1979 in Washington, D.C. It was presented by the Congressional Research Service in conjunction with The Committee on House Administration, The Committee on Senate Rules and Administration, Secretary of the Senate Office, and Senate Sergeant-At-Arms. The agenda included workshops on various topics related to the legislative process, congressional information, member accounts, allowances and regulations, franking regulations, writing for Congress, the federal budget process, and more. Participants also had the opportunity to tour the U.S. Capitol Building and Library of Congress, as well as engage in small group discussions and additional training on information systems. The institute aimed to help district/state staff members effectively work with Congress and the executive branch.
