Scope and Contents

Mrs. Frank Fugate wrote a letter to George B. Schwabe, a member of Congress, expressing her concerns about her 18-year-old son who enlisted in the Merchant Marine before finishing his senior year of high school. Schwabe reassured her that he is working to allow servicemen to return home and finish their education, and he is introducing a bill in Congress to address this issue. Schwabe also sent Fugate a copy of his recent statement on the matter and promised to continue advocating for the welfare of servicemen in similar situations.
