Scope and Contents

Mrs. Bertha Grover wrote a letter to Representative George B. Schwabe asking for his support of the Merchant Seamen's Bill of Rights H. R. 2346, as her son is a Third Mate in the Merchant Marine. The letter was acknowledged by the Congressman's secretary, Miss Camille M. Garneau, who promised to bring it to his attention upon his return to Washington. Mrs. Grover expressed her belief that the bill would help to address inequalities and injustices faced by Merchant Seamen.
