Scope and Contents

Mrs. Charles L. Miller sent a petition to Honorable George B. Schwabe in support of a G.I. Bill of Rights for Merchant Seamen, detailing the dangerous experiences her husband faced while serving in the Merchant Marine. The petition was signed by various individuals, all in agreement with the need for a Merchant Seamen's Bill of Rights. George B. Schwabe acknowledged receipt of the petition and stated that he was considering the measure but was unsure of Congress's action on it. The petition was sponsored by the National Maritime Union.
